Report a Sighting

Think you've found emerald ash borer? Early detection is one of the most important tools for slowing its spread. Here's how to document and report a suspected sighting to DANR.

Before You Report

Confirm the tree is a true ash and review EAB signs and symptoms.

What to Look For

D-shaped exit holes, S-shaped galleries, canopy dieback, and bark splits.

Take Photos

Clear pictures of the beetle, damage, and the whole tree help experts confirm.

Note the Location

Record the address or GPS coordinates and the date observed.

Collect a Sample

If safe, keep any beetle or larva you find in a sealed container.

Who to Contact

Report to DANR's Resource Conservation & Forestry program.
